Stress and some.

Stress. A word on the tongues of every individual old enough to understand it. Everybody experiences it, some more than the others.

Stress has become part of all our lives. Just like work, career, college, marriage. But do we really need the stress? Like the other aspects of our lives, people vary in opinion. Most research asserts that some amount of stress is required for a human being to function effectively. (We are Not exaggerating). That basically means, if you are the typical couch potato who gets served at the snap of your fingers, you are probably not stressed.( Unless we count the finger snapping, and That'll be an exaggeration!) But there are some who live by the faith that stress is a bad bad thing and the root cause of all their problems. They believe that alarm clocks and Gatorade are their magic and stress is a bad word.

Quick Fact: The human body reacts to stress in ways meant to protect a person against threats from predators. Though such threats are rare today, the human body still treats stress in the same way. When facing multiple demands each day, such as a huge workload, making ends meet or just making it through the morning traffic, the body treats these minor hassles as threats from predators. ( So Now we know why we feel like attacking people who forget how to drive during rush hour traffic!)

So we decided to come to a consensus. We made stress a "Yin Yang" situation. Yin is the stress you don't need. All the hair pulling frustration and unable to think clearly kind of stress is your typical Yin stress. However, your Yang stress helps you get out of bed for the early meeting with the boss, helps your doctor complete dental surgery in good time and helps you run that marathon race.

Now there are many different ways to combat this Yin stress, some more interesting than others. (No, i wasn't talking about sex!) We use dance, music, martial arts, play and art to deal with it in a fun and constructive way... More about that on the next rainy day!

That's it for today folks. You can go back to your Facebook homepage or tweeting or watching the birds fly home! But do remember to try something new and stay on the path of Yangy stress!

Stress is an ignorant state. It believes that everything is an emergency. Nothing is that important. Just lie down." - Natalie Goldberg
